Welcome to Cooking with Pepper! This is a cooking blog I started early 2023. It’s a compilation of inspired, original, and family recipes.

My Story

I had a reprioritization of my life and goals when my mother passed away early December 2022. One of the things she would have wanted me to do was to continue to be creative and do what I love. I took some time off working a corporate job in order to continue my studies and start this blog.

My passion for food started at a very young age. There were two sides of the family and all that came with the cultural diversity of cuisine. To say it simply, I’m Irish, Italian, English, and Puerto Rican. I have the best of all worlds when it came to food and tradition.

I started to really dive into cooking back in 2013. My Titi Jennie (Titi means auntie in Spanish) gifted me Cook’s Illustrated Cook Book for my birthday. It opened my world up to the flavors of life and how to make delicious food.

Later that year after newly moving to NYC, I suffered severe anxiety and depression. I was in a bad place mentally and I felt adrift. A few weeks later, I visited Bird Jungle in Scarsdale. I walked out with a six month old Yellow Streaked Lory. I named her Pepper.

This little bird became my support, and we grew together.

All this time I’ve been cooking with Pepper…

I hope my story was inspirational to you. It took a lot of hard times and mistakes to get to where I am. This blog is currently not lucrative, but a passion project. I hope to grow this into a full time business and explore other areas of food and living.
